Doug Salt has a background as a professional software developer mainly in the finance sector, but after a completing degree in Mathematical and Computing Sciences at the Open University, did a Ph. D. in Information Theory. He joined The James Hutton Institute in 2016, and has worked on international and interdisciplinary projects funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union. This work has been at the interface between knowledge engineering and agent-based modelling. He will be The James Hutton Institute’s research software engineer (RSE) in the project, investigating technical and institutional matters in exascale computing and translating them into the agent-based modelling domain.
