Alison Heppenstall is a Professor in Geocomputation at the University of Glasgow. She is a recognised international expert in the development of spatial agent-based models and was awarded the International Society of Computational Economics prize in 2022 for her ‘outstanding contribution to social simulation and agent-based modelling’. She held an ESRC-Alan Turing Fellowship focused on developing spatial agent-based models and is currently a co-director of the Urban Big Data Centre and Systems Science Programme at the University of Glasgow. She has authored over 60 articles, written two books on ABM and gives regular keynote talks. She is an associate editor on Computers Environment and Urban Systems and an editorial board member on the JASSS and Geographical Analysis. She is ExAMPLER's Knowledge Exchange Coordinator.
